Written by vintage on April 25, 2009 – 9:41 pm -Gibson Custom's 1956 Les Paul Goldtop Reissue is a nice sounding instrument, that plays well. Most musicians feel that, overall, it's a fine guitar. Not much to be asked for feature-wise, Gibson Custom delivered what's expected: a sturdy, quality instrument at a fair price. 1956 Les Paul Goldtop Reissue features: One-piece mahogany neck with long tenon with Early-'50s rounded neck profile 22-fret rosewood fretboard Vintage tulip tuners pickups: P-90 single-coil 2 volume, 2 tone, 3-way selector switch Gibson Custom went really far in carefully choosing 1956 Les Paul Goldtop Reissue's features. King has marveled many guitar players throughout the years with his short hard bending blues licks and scorching blues chops that can be imitated but not duplicated. Gibson owes a great deal of their success on their ES models to the blues man. Since the late 50s and 60s B.B. King has played numerous Gibson ES guitars (ES-5, ES-335 etc) His use of the Gibson ES has given them a great deal of exposure. As a result Gibson and King decided to produce an official line of Gibson electric guitars bearing the B.B. King name. In 1980 Gibson Introduced the Gibson B.B. King custom.
